my roommates and I have accidentally developed a shift system for shoveling when we get real big boy snow like today. we really only have one shovel that doesn’t suck so one of us will go out there and do some damage before they get tired and come back in. then the next person takes the shovel and does their part. this continues as long as the snow keeps on keeping on. anyways we got 18 inches in the last 18 hours and our sidewalk looks pretty good.
been spinning this fleshwater (vein.fm side project) album over the last couple of days. it's like a grungier version of the softer vein tracks but in general I like this more than vein's melodic stuff (aside from "Funeral Sound." that track is fucking awesome.) I think it's because Marisa is more dynamic in her clean vocals than Anthony is at his (he's a fantastic screamer though, and he delivers some killer screams here as well.)
overall it's an excellent, brooding complement to vein.fm's more explicit viscera. whereas vein is more upfront and confrontational about its musical violence, fleshwater kinda lets its darkness seep through in a more deliberate manner. the threat of it all is implied, while vein.fm is direct in how it aims to hurt you.
it's a tight, sub half-hour record with little fat. I think if you like rock with some edge (but not too much edge) you'll dig this.
